The city of Krefeld, once a thriving centre of commerce and industry, faced the challenge of revitalising its shopping district. Just overcoming the COVID crisis, the city, like many others, faces challenges such as a departing market. Reason enough to bring life to the area. SESSIBON, known for its expertise in organising fashion events, was called in to ensure this together with the Stadt Krefeld and the shopkeepers’ association.<\/p>

The Goldene Seidenschleife
<\/strong>Krefeld, historically known as the ‘Silk City’, has a deep-rooted tradition in the textile industry. Every year, the prestigious ‘Goldene Seidenschleife’ is awarded.<\/p>

Originally, this prize was awarded to renowned designers. Today, it is an incentive prize for up-and-coming talent and is awarded in a separate show that SESSIBON created in cooperation with IGEDO. In a project like this, SESSIBON is a connector, for instance the choreography of the professional models was handled by Anke Didier (Fashion Stylist & Consultant), and styling and showcalling were in the hands of the in-house SESSIBON team.<\/p>

The power of cooperation: A synergy between municipality and shopkeepers’ association
<\/strong>A key factor in the success of the event was the collaboration between different parties. SESSIBON acted as the binding force between Krefeld municipality and the local shopkeepers’ associations. This cooperation enabled them to organise a fashion event that not only boosted the local economy, but also fostered a sense of community and pride among residents.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Catwalk through the city: local residents as models
<\/strong>A special feature of the event was the unique catwalk, which stretched for many metres through the shopping area. SESSIBON brought an innovative idea to life by using a mix of local residents as models with professional models from the SESSIBON database. This strategy not only created a deeper connection with the community, but also gave the event an authentic and inclusive character. Of course, this requires very careful planning and quite an ability to oversee an event with everything that can go wrong.<\/p>

Results and Visions for the Future: The impact of SESSIBON’s event
<\/strong>The event was a resounding success, with positive feedback from clients, participants and visitors alike. The city of Krefeld and the retailers’ association were very pleased with the outcome, which led to requests for future collaborations. This event demonstrated how effective SESSIBON can be in bringing different stakeholders together, adapting to specific situations and positively influencing both regional and social developments.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
